Mayumi
Sakamoto

After attending the Music High School attached to Tokyo University of the Arts, Mayumi Sakamoto graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts. She completed her studies at the Hanover University of Music and Drama in Germany and obtained the German state concert performer qualification. She won the Cologne International Music Competition and the Grieg International Piano Competition, and received diplomas at the International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Alongside performances in Japan and abroad, she taught at Tokyo University of the Arts and Tokyo College of Music. She currently teaches at Kyoto City University of Arts. She is also a visiting researcher at the Graduate School of Medicine of Kyoto University and a director of the Music Society of Japan, pursuing research and the education of younger musicians.
